Last year we set out to redefine ourselves. Liberating experience, I
must say. You should try it sometime. And that's exactly what
Mobtown does in this, our tenth season: invite you to really think about who
you are.
The plays we look at this year involve identity, or perhaps,
even "false" identities. In each of these productions, the characters
experiment with their roles in life, try to define who they are without
being defined, wear masks willingly and forcibly, and explore different
versions of themselves. Who is the murderer? What if you are falsely
accused? What if the person you were supposed to be runs counter to
who you really are? Is your imaginary friend just an extension of
yourself? Is a blow up doll a suitable stand in for your betraying
husband?
Once again, Mobtown goes where most other companies fear to
tread with some hot new plays. Child murderers, abusive imaginary
friends, a Henry VIII blow up doll, a twisted Christmas Carol....
And we're also bringing back a full slate of concerts, guest
performances, and special events to the Mobtown Theater.
